The assertion was made that an ASM instance and and a database using ASM storage have to use the same memory management, which is incorrect. Under Linux, every database instance using more than 4 GB of RAM should definitely use kernel hugepages for memory efficiency and performance. ASM runs best under Posix shared memory and AMM.
