Client System Analyzer in cloud control 12c not showing successful client configuration

Hi,

        I am trying to test this feature i found lately in our new 12.1.0.2 deployment of oracle cloud control. When i navigate to Enterprise --> Configuration --> Client System Analyzer. I click on the example link https://servername:port/em/public/ecm/csa/CSA  link. It shows that a configuration collection was successfully collected and data sent to the server. Before i continue explaining just to elaborate about we were getting that was causing file limit exceeded which i fixed by using the oracle support article 843903.1.  I then try to navigate to  Enterprise --> Configuration --> Client configurations. It shows nothing has been collected. Is there anything i am doing wrong is there any steps that i need to perform other than the start button on the "Client System Analyzer" page earlier as the documentation are not really clear about it.

    The client data may be processed on a daily basis in the background so it may take a day for the data to show. Try stopping and starting the CSA process to force data to be processed immediately.

     

    Can you explain your use case for this? The agent is a much better mechanism to collect and update host configuration.

    I am using the client system analyzer to collect data from clients (end users) not servers. I am exploring the feature to see what type of information it can collect and how can it help us as database and application administrators in identifying problems end users are facing. I will wait and see if it will upload the information after a while and if true i think i will need to modify the time interval to be more frequent.

    only thing that is required is to click 'Start' and then click on the URL to start collecting client info. Takes few mins to show up in EM repository but can you please try logging out and logging back into EM to see if results show up ?  alternatively, I am not sure if i can work with you to see the issue offline on your environment ?.

    Hi Ashish,

                 Appreciate your help but an offline access will not be possible. I have attempted the stopping and starting it again that doesn't seem to help either in the collection. I had a look at the metrics being collected for the CSA collector and noticed that it had one that is being collected called "CSA Configuration" which i believe should run every 2 minutes to collect client configuration on the server. I tried to do one collection today and it appeared in the folder  <GC_installation>/EMGC_OMS1/sysman/oms_csa/results and within 2 minutes  it suddenly disappeared and the configuration are no where to be found.

    I tried that sql but that table does not exist what i believe you meant is this

    Jobs succeeded which implies that configuration is being hopefully sent to repository as we expect. Next, I think I should look your repository - I suggest - we setup a call for me to debug this on your env via some conference.  my email address is ashish.gor@oracle.com.

     

    in parallel : is it possible for you to check mgmt_system_error_log and emdw_trace_data tables for any errors where message contains '%csa% or '%CSA%'

     

    column error_message in mgmt_system_error_log

    column log_message  for emdw_trace_data

     

    other thing to run is

     

    select * from em_ecm_csa_files;

    Are any of your other jobs running fine on your env ? Seems like your env has job system issues. Contents should be read from em_ecm_csa_files and inserted into repository and thats not happening. Unfortunately, I think w/o looking at your env, cant think of what else may be going on..can we discuss over conference call and we can look at your env ?

    It seems it was a bug. If anyone is also having the same problem you will need to download Patch Number:17743138
