When I issue shutdown -y -i6 -g0 command on Solaris 11 OS, system shutdowns the services and immediately boots from the OS Disk.
Normally when we do reboot on Linux OS,system reboots from BIOS level.
May I know the reason here why reboot does not have BIOS routine checks up.
Correct! In S11express, S11 and S11.1 by default "svcs -l -v boot-config" shows fastreboot set to true.
Nevertheless I see all boot messages including "press Del to run setup" and so on. So what actually is "fastreboot"?
The difference was another one: Under S11 I never saw the grub menu! So changing the BE had to be done activating another BE in advance, or by shutting down to power off.
This just now changed after (caused by??) removing two needless backup BEs having been created on occasion of upgrading from S11 to S11.1. This is especially curious because these BEs were created after the time of S11.
