This is my configuration
Host Machine = Windows Server 2008 64 Bit
OBIEE = OBIEE 18.104.22.168.8 - SIMPLE INSTALL ONLY
We have a simple install of OBIEE, so there is no managed server and no clustering. We want to upgrade to 22.214.171.124.1. I read it from ritttman's blog that "in place" upgrade on simple install in not possible? If somebody has done it by manually doing some changes, can you please share the link with me? Also, if it is possible this way, is it worth doing it considering all the manual changes / errors we face while doing. Is it recommended?
Also, If I go about doing a fresh installation of OBIEE 7.1 on the same host machine (in a separate middleware home folder) which already have weblogic running and OBIEE version 6.8 running, will that work? Can I install 7.1 on the same physical machine which already have 6.8 runining with simple install?
I'll really appreciate any help/pointers on this, Please let me know.

126.96.36.199.1 recommends weblogic 10.3.6 where as 188.8.131.52.8 is on 10.3.5

Thanks Sainchand for the help, but as I mentioned I am on Simple Install, and I have read on various blogs that "in place" method which you have mentioned ( 1. Doing Software Install Only 2. Running PSA 3. Running Config Assistant) is not possible in Simple Install. Most of the people get stuck in step 3 while configuring the BI Domain in Simple Install where the config assistant won't update the domain.
Will this method work for Simple Install? If not, can you please point me to a documentation / link which clearly mentions the steps to be done to updated a simple install to 7.0 / 7.1
Really apprecaited your help on this.
So you mean to say that I can install OBIEE 7.0/7.1 on the same physical machine which already has OBIEE 6.8 installed and I can use the already installed weblogic server, what about the RCU schemas etc ? If yes, can you please let me know / point to a documentation about the steps to be followed for this?
Just to re-iterate that I have a simple install on that machine.
Ok,but if you are planning to upgrade 184.108.40.206.1 existing weblogic version is not supported.
1) Upgrade weblogic to 10.3.6
2) Enterprise install is nothing but creating bi_server domain using weblogic configuration you can do it if I'm not wrong
