If you are using the direct database request . have you given any optimiser hints for that particular sql
if not , please try to give some hints and check it
I dont think you are using correct tool for your requirement, Here are your option if you want to use OBIEE and post what error u got
1. Ad ns87 said use direct database request - but It defeats the purpose of building RPD
2. use JDBC to connect to RPD and write a query
3. fragment you fact's to improve performance
4. configure an agent to run the query once you figure out how to run it.
What is your Database and you said you 've created report in against rpd and what is the error you are getting. OBIEE by default will show only 65000 rows for table view and when you run the report generated SQL .how many rows are you getting?.If you want to retrieve more records you need to change instanceconfig.xml.
I dont think you are using correct tool for your requirement
Thank YOU for pointing this out. The initial post literally made me cringe.
You are welcome Christian, developers these days don't analyze the requirement to tool they just blindly follow their project managers.
Who is first?
A manager is assigned for an implementation then he start looking for tools/sales reps then team might be formed. By the time developer joins to manager everything is decided.
Should not blame a developer at any cost.
I disagree, developer/Tech Lead should be able to communicate product management that tool will work or will not based on the requirement, at the end they will blame tech lead/developer if product does not perform.
"if the product does not peform"...
Let's put the problem into a perspective that guys (which I assume we all are for the sake of the argument): cars.
Using your direct database request as a starting point it's a bit like trying to use a Ferrari to pull a camper. Yes, it will work, but it's the wrong approach. Likewise (or conversely) it's a pretty bad idea to take a Land Rover Defender around the Nurburg Ring.
In both cases "the product" (i.e. the respective cars) "will not perform" (i.e. not fulfill the intended duties the way you may want them to).
I never get why everyone always bows to the most bizarre requests like "I MUST be able to export 2 million rows through an analysis exposed on a dashboard" or "This list report must allow scrolling through 500k records per day across 300 columns".
No one can believe that I saw 3 report witch are running for 97 lacks rows successfully and in next few days I will share with you all how we do it.
Thanks all and please don't be frustrate and give impractical solutions if .
(blindly following,cringe etc.)
If OBIEE doesn't have that much capability then no benefit of 11g over 10g. because that was more robust.
Well I don't know how that team did , but I think will definitely get it to success.
if they can do in same tool why I can't .
appreciate your suggestions
Anyone can develop a report to show 9 million records, all it matters is whether it performs ? Good Luck with your adventure
I am facing the same issue you were facing. I am workingo n OBIEE 11g and dashboard is not popping up for large data. It fails. I have 4lakh rows of data. Can you provide the work around to fix it.

Yes: don't abuse OBIEE as a glorified data-exporting / Excel-dumping tool.
