    Problem with loading data to Essbase

    GRQ

      Hi All,

      I have a problem with loading data into Essbase. I've prepared maxl script to load the data, calling rule file. The source table is located in RDBMS Oracle. The script works correctly, ie. generally loads data into Essbase.

      But the problem lies in the fact, that after deletion of data from Essbase, when I'm trying to load it again from the source table I get the message: WARNING - 1003035 - No data values modified by load of this data file - although there is no data in Essbase... I've also tried to change the mode of loading data from 'overwrite' to 'add to existing values' (in rule file) but it does'nt help ... Any ideas what can I do?

            I did it. The problem is that the script can not "see" the data has been cleared.

                    1)  load data via maxl

                    import database $vApp.$vApp

                    data connect as $vODBCLogin identified by $vODBCPassword

                    using rules_file  "$vWorkDir/ess/$vMXLSHName.rul"

                    on error write to "$vWorkDir/log/$vLogFileName.txt.err";

                    2) this is correct log

                    ----------

                    OK/INFO - 1021043 - Connection has been established.

                    OK/INFO - 1021044 - Starting to execute query.

                    OK/INFO - 1021045 - Finished executing query, and started to fetch records.

                    OK/INFO - 1021000 - Connection With SQL Database Server is Established.

                    OK/INFO - 1021047 - Finished fetching data.

                    OK/INFO - 1021002 - SQL Connection is Freed.

                    OK/INFO - 1003037 - Data Load Updated [1038] cells.

                    OK/INFO - 1003052 - Data Load Elapsed Time for [SQL] : [121.7] seconds.

                    ----------

                      This tells me data has been loaded. You could verify it by going into EAS and looking at the database properties stastics tab and look at level 0 blocks. I'll bet it has a number. Is this a block storage cube? if so, in order to see the numbers sat higher levels you have to aggregate the cube (try running the default calc).

                      If this is an ASO cube, you might have issues depending on how you set consolidatioon operators.

                      The best way to debug this is to get one row of data from the sql and put it into your retrieval It should return the intersection of numbers then start zooming out dimension by dimension to see wher it no longer shows you numbers

                        Thank you for your comprehensive answer. The problem is that the loading is unpredictable: I delete data from Essbase, load them with a script and I see in the log information that "Data Load Updated [xxxx] cells.". After some time, I'm trying to do the same operation: clear data in Essbase, load them once more with the same script, from the same table and I'm receiving warning: WARNING - 1003035 - No data values modified by load of this data file.
