    RMAN Backup Copy format

    User581939-OC

      Hi,

      am using following rman block to take incremental backup copy for recover.

      run{
      allocate channel c1 type disk format 'd:\copy\%f';
      BACKUP INCREMENTAL LEVEL 1 FOR RECOVER OF COPY WITH TAG 'full_backup' DATABASE ;
      }

      It creates backup under D:|COPY directory but the name of backup copy is file# of datafile. How can I take backup copy which has same name as actual data file i.e. users01.dbf?

      Thanks

            Hello,

            Thanks, but unfortunately it can not work. Specifying a single file name "users01.dbf" for whole database backup will ask other files copy to overwrite users01.dbf and command would fail. I got the solultion which is as follows.

            BACKUP AS COPY INCREMENTAL LEVEL 0 FORMAT 'd:\copy\SYSTEM01.DBF' TAG='DF_COPY' datafile 1;
            BACKUP AS COPY INCREMENTAL LEVEL 0 FORMAT 'd:\copy\SYSAUX01.DBF' TAG='DF_COPY' datafile 2;
            BACKUP AS COPY INCREMENTAL LEVEL 0 FORMAT 'd:\copy\UNDOTBS01.DBF' TAG='DF_COPY' datafile 3;
            BACKUP AS COPY INCREMENTAL LEVEL 0 FORMAT 'd:\copy\USERS01.DBF' TAG='DF_COPY' datafile 4;
            BACKUP AS COPY INCREMENTAL LEVEL 0 FORMAT 'd:\copy\FLOW_1046227278781593.DBF' TAG='DF_COPY' datafile 5;

              With an FRA defined (via DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST_SIZE and DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST), the command is simply

              backup incremental level 1 for recover of copy tag 'MY_TAG' database

              A FORMAT specifier is not required.

                My requirement was to have backup copy with same name as actual data file name
