          Hi,

DId you drop the drop the redo log file from OS level or Database level.

You have 02 redolog group and each group has 02 members (copies of the other), therefore if you have dropped a single member of the redolog group then you can simple make a copy to the other.

Please provide us what command you have issued to drop the redolog and please provide the output of (DB alert logfile):

          tail -500 alert_<SID>.log

so that we may better assist you.

          Thanks &

          Best Regards,

            Thanks

              Hi,

You multiplex your redo log files in order to recover from scenarios which you have just faced, therefore ensure to have the redolog members created in different disks so as to ease your recovery.

As at now, since the TEST instance is not critical the easiest means will be to perform a clone from the Production Instance.

BTW, can you please confirm whether you mean the DEV instance as TEST. Because the select query is referring to DEV instance.

For recoveries from redo log failures, please see:

Recovering After the Loss of Online Redo Log Files: Scenarios

              Thanks &

              Best Regards,

                      Hi Brother,

It seems you have not dropped the redolog groups for the respective instance (DEV). In order to confirm, please provide the output of:

                      ll /u01/oracle/DEV/redo/

                      Thanks &

                      Best Regards,

                              Hi,

I am not sure whether you are accessing the correct hosts, because in your alert log file there are so many check points that has occured (which will result in log switches which has

occurred successfully without any interruption). Can you please confirm whether all the other datafiles are available in the system (host) that you are checked for redolog files.

Before we proceed with making any changes, it is better we understand your environment. Since we dont have access to your environment please confirm that the logfiles are really dropped in your DB.

If your answer is yes, then follow the below action plan:

Please note: It is best for you to raise an SR and receive support engineers guidance, if you are not sure of what each tasks does and dont have a better understanding of the Oracle DB.

Performing activities without awareness may cause the DB in irrecoverable state, therefore it is best to raise an SR.

                              1. Using the Oracle binary owner, create the directory as:

                              mkdir /u01/oracle/DEV/redo/

                              2. Add 02 members to the existing group.

                              alter database

                              add logfile member ('/u01/oracle/DEV/redo/redo01a.dbf','/u01/oracle/DEV/redo/redo01b.dbf')

                              to group 1;
