    Upgrading my database to 11.20.1 from 10.2.0.4

      Hello Everyone ;

       

      Greetings..

      I am upgrading my database from 10.2.0.4 to 11.0.0.1. (Self Practice in my own System)

       

      My current DB Details

      Can i ignore above error ?

          Hi,

           

          seems you are trying to use DBUA for upgrade,These are the setting for Invoke GUI. it should be corrected before run dbua otherwise it won't open.

          if you have linux gui then i believe this is not require. you can run dbua

          how ever you can also go for the manual upgrade method which involve all the steps during upgrade manually is good for learning purpose.

            Jst i checked my system details before to execute  ./runInstaller

            still i did NOT start my upgradation process.

             

            $ grep MemTotal /proc/meminfo

            MemTotal:      1286048 kB


            $ grep SwapTotal /proc/meminfo

            SwapTotal:     2867592 kB


            $ df -h /dev/shm/

            Filesystem            Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on

            $ df -h /tmp

              Hi,

               

              Its My Bad, seem you are trying to install oracle s/w first.

              what Error  did you get when you run ./runInstaller

                Okay. I have two virtual machines. I run .runInstaller  , on 8th screen  -perform pre req  cheks)  i got error

                DETAILS :

                Expected Value :  1GB ( 1048576.0KB)

                Actaul Value     :  1010.85 MB (1035108.0KB)

                 

                So , i have changed my plan to upgrade my db ( from  10.2.0.4 to 11gr2)  in aonther virtual machine. 

                Again i am  pasting system details . please check it.

                    Yes , ram size is not enough ! ok i agree.

                    Already virtual machine machine is configured , how can i increase my ram size.  Any possibilities ,

                    please provide the any links or ideas it will help me to continue ..

                      Hi,

                       

                      In virtual-Box you can do that.

                      shutdown your virtual  node/machine

                      then

                      settings=>system=>Base Memory ==> increase the size there

                          on 8th screen again i am geting following error :

                           

                          SWAP SIZE

                          Expected  Value : 2.03 GB (2125680.0KB)

                          ACTUAL VALUE : 2GB (2096472.0KB)

                           

                          I dont know  .. how can i increase my  system SWAP SIZE  ?

                            Hi,

                             

                            if i am not wrong 8th Screen would be Operation system related Things..

                            If you check there there is one check box on Right Corner to Ignore.. You can Click on that Ignore and Proceed..
