    Data Masking in Oracle Applications

    alammo1

      Dear DBAs,

We have an R12.1.3 Oracle Apps instance with 11.2.0.1 database.

We have various product teams like HR, Finance, SCM etc, and for each of them we clone different test instances.

What we require is that only that data should be visible to a team which is relevant for them.

For example, in HR test instance, only HR data should be visible to its users and not that of Finance or SCM.

I know there is now data scrambling available via Application Management Pack but that requires a separate license.

I am looking for if someone has implemented it in their organization via manual method i.e. via custom SQL scripts/

We have salary masking already in place. This is achieved by running some custom scripts provided to us by our HR Developer. Before releasing the clone instance, we run these scripts and thus salary is masked.

However, we would like to explore more on this. Apart from salary, what else people have masked in HR and what tables are involved. Similarly for other product families like Finance and SCM.

Please share your experience if anyone has implemented the same in their company.

Also, any generic / specific guidelines are welcome on this topic.

      Thanks & Regards,
      Munee

          Hi Munee,

AFAIK, you will not be able to perform data masking module wise using scripts. But this feature is facilitated using Enterprise Manager. For more information, please see:

Using Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3 Template for the Data Masking Pack with Oracle Enterprise Manager 12.1.0.2 Data Masking Tool (Doc ID 1481916.1)

In addition, you also have the option of using Oracle Vault on EBS, Please see:
