Oracle sqr support?

1054608Nov 14 2013 — edited Mar 5 2014

Hi All,

Does anyone know if any future versions of the Oracle DBMS are going to support the SQR language?

My institution has the dilemma that thousands of operational and other reports are written in SQR, but Oracle has officially dropped support for it as of a version or 2 ago (Oracle version, not sqr version), so it could break at any future upgrade, leaving us in a real bind.

It could require many man-years to convert them all, and resources are slim.

I had heard it is included as part of the BI package, but my institution has not purchased that (nor do they wish to), so I am looking for options outside of that.

Keeping a stagnant version of Oracle running is not an option, either.

Barring keeping SQR going, does anyone know of any resources for programatically converting SQR files to another language?

Or, an open source SQR interpreter that can make connections to Oracle, etc.?

Any information, ideas, or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks
