    play sound in the background oracle form

      hi

      i'm using oracle form 6i

      i find that there is a way to play a sound with (sound item) .. and it worked

      but the item must be visible in the form and the user must press on (play) button to play the sound

      and what i want is playing a sound in the background directly when the form is open ..

      without showing any item or object sound in the form and without pressing any thing

      is there any solution for this ?

          Hi,

          make the sound item invisible (visible=no) and try this in one of the triggers fired when you open the form:

          Go_Item('ITEM');

          Read_Sound_File('wav file path', 'WAVE', 'ITEM');

          Play_Sound('ITEM');

            i write this plsql in the form trigger (WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE)

            GO_ITEM('block3.SOUND_ITEM2');

            READ_SOUND_FILE('C:\SoundEffect\ar_start.wav','wave','block3.SOUND_ITEM2');

            PLAY_SOUND('block3.SOUND_ITEM2');

            then i go to property palette and change visible option to (NO)

            and when i run the form didn't work and show me this message :

            FRM-47207: in this release, play_sound can only be run against the current item

            then i go back and change the visible option to (YES)

            then the idea come to change the size of sound item? height and width make all to zero

            and now its work fine ...

            thanks Julius Z
