I am trying to use essmsh on the Essbase server can you confirm; -
1. Do I need the MaxL client installed on the server?
2. I get the error; - error initializing localization module, but the only hit that I have found indicates that the value of 'ESSBASEPATH' is not correct and that it needs to set to the value that I will find in 'startMaxl.cmd...
However, as I say I do not have MaxL client installed, do I need it, or can I fix this without??
Version is 184.108.40.206
Thanks for your input,
I think you are on EPM 11.1.2.x where there are some path related issues while invoking MaxL using ESSMSH.
Try using startMaxl instead of essmsh & I think it does not require Essbase/Maxl client to be installed if you are on Essbase server.
You should be able to find startMaxl.bat under <ORACLE_EPM_INSTANCE>\essbaseserver\essbaseserver1\bin & try invoking maxl from this path on command prompt if yours is windows.
This thread should help you to find more details : Re: Problem to Open the essmsh cmd
Robert , In the server command prompt go to C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\common\EssbaseRTC-64\220.127.116.11\bin directory . Once you are in just type the command startmaxl.bat or essmsh.exe . This will take you to the Maxl shell without any Localization Module Initiation error.
