We are about to migrate Hyperion Essbase ASO Cubes from 7.1.6 to 220.127.116.11. As per my references and guidelines given by
experts i hope migration from 7.1.6 to 18.104.22.168 can be done directly through migration utility or Manual copy.
But When i raise ticket with Oracle, Oracle has mentioned as direct migration from 7.1.6 to 22.214.171.124 is not possible.
They are suggesting to go from 7.1.6 to 9.3.x to 11.1.1.x to 126.96.36.199.
Now am in dilemma to proceed the approach.
Could anyone you please confirm whether every thing will work fine if i follow direct migration approach from 7.1.6 to 188.8.131.52 using Migration utility
or Manual method?
Also we are planning to implement LDAP security in 184.108.40.206. How can we maintain the securities and provisions from EAS Console to Shared Services?
Thanks in advance...
No. Direct migration from 7.x to 11.1.2.x is not recommended / supported.
You should migrate/upgrade to 9.3.3 & freshly install 220.127.116.11 on some other system of same OS or architecture. Then you can use EAS migration wizard to migrate the cubes.
Also, you should be able to use CSSImportExport utility in 9.3.3 to export users & provisioning & later can use LCM to import in 18.104.22.168 with minimal changes to those exports from 9.3.3
It should be possible to migrate the applications using the EAS migration wizard, it probably wont be supported if you encounter issues that is why Oracle have advised of that route.
To be honest I would recommend rebuilding the ASO applications and then loading data or an export in.
Thanks for your reply John,
I have some hundreds of scripts available in 7 version (rul, msh .. etc).
Can i copy it through Migration utility or manual or do i need to re-built all those scripts and rule files in 11 version to work it properly?
Will it create any problems if i go through Migration utility?
Also could you please suggest about the security to handle it 22.214.171.124. (Will Re- Creating be recommended ).
You can try and migrate as much as you can with the EAS migration wizard, if you have any issues then it is best to recreate as the difference between source/target version.
As you will be managing security through Shared Services there is no direct migration so recreate.
