I'm working with Tomcat 7 and I'm developing a servlet named Booklet.
I want to use annotations instead of web.xml.
So, I annotate my servlet class:
The servlet works fine, the URL is just the one I wrote in the annotation, but I can't see the display name in Tomcat Manager.
If I add a simple web.xml containing <display-name>Booklet Servlet</display-name>, leaving the annotation unchanged, the display name shows up !
as though the annotation would work for urlPatterns but wouldn't work for displayName.
Any suggestions ?
I tried the name attriobute, but nothing changed, the display name column in Tomcat Manager remained blank.
I agree it isn't a showstopper bug, but it's a bit annoying not to see the display name, 'cause my customer wants to see it (it was him who decided the string to show in Tomcat Manager), so I must keep web.xml file ONLY for it (I hoped I could get rid of it).
well, I can go on with web.xml....
