    Capturing database taking long time

    11g.DBA

      Hi,

      Want to migrate MYSQL database to Oracle Database using SQL developer.

      SQl developer installed on a different machine than oracle and MySQL database.

      My Complete structure details are :

       xx.xxx.xx.28 --> MySQL 5.0 (RAM 3 GB)

       xx.xxx.xx.30 --> Oracle 11.2.1.0 (4 GB)

       xx.xxx.xx.10 --> SQL developer (1.5.5) (Also tried 3.2 & 4.0 but same issue) (RAM 2 GB)

      When I am capturing database,It worked very fast till around 600 constraints.After that it got very very slow.

      Database details are as follows

      Catalog

      1

      Schema

      1

      Table

      659

      Column

      9925

      constraints

      3802

      index

      3045

      Can somebody please suggest the recommended size of memory for this scenario as I think its only a memory issue as SQL Developer machine is also getting very slower and the CPU usage of MYSQL machine is continuously above 25% for this process.

      Thanx

          Hi,

             You haven't said how you are doing the capture but as the different components are on different machines I would suggest you try an offline capture by generating the offline capture scripts and running them directly on the MySQL machine.
          This is detailed in the V4 documentation in the section -

          2.2.5 Capturing the Source Database

          Regards,

          Mike
