You should be able to use the plugin to "calculate" the classification. For example, lets say you have a highly classified formulation however all inputs to that formulation are low security items so no classifications are rolled up. When the breakdown rolls up you can automatically add a higher security classification to it using this plugin. For example, if BU is "highly secure" always add "super secret" classification to the breakdown.
If you find that this isn't possible go ahead and submit and SR and we'll take a look at the extension.
The method which is available will not suffice our requirement, that's we want to update the formulation classification field on run time not only for newly created specs but also for existing formulation specs.
We have created a SR for this , also can you please send me the AcmePLM.dll which is explained in the documentation. We are unable to find this dll in like to explorer the extensibility pack.
I guess we need a little more clarification. Are you saying that you don't need the extension point in the User Interface? Implementing it allows you to determine (in code) which formulation classification(s) should be displayed as overrides in the output popup. Then, when you save the formulation spec, the overrides will get pushed to the material spec. Note that you have to Save the formulation spec for the override to get saved.
Are you trying to set the override on a large number of specs without going into each one and opening the output popup? Can you explain in more detail?
(By the way, there is no AcmePLM.dll - I believe that if you see it in the docs, it is just meant to illustrate your own dll name.)
