    Interconnect Data Transfer to SLOW

    137783
      Hi,

We are working with database adapters for Oracle.
In our Production enviroment we have 2 adapters one for each application.
But when Application adapter one sends the message to hub is very slow and when the message pass from hub to application adapter 2 is slow to.
What should I do to tune my adapters and the hub repository?? because we have a high volumen of transacctions.

      Regards

            Ricardo,

Can the forum have some more information please?

What adapters are you using? DB? FTP? If FTP, tweak the period in the adapter.ini to reduce the directory polling time.

What other traffic is on your network?

Are there any strange errors, like the connection between your adapter and environment being dropped?

Are you going through a firewall?

What adapter logging level are you set to? (the higher the level, to slower the transformation - although this overhead can be marginal)

What is the size of your message?

Can you give us some metrics between other instances (like your DEV or TEST system), compared to your production environment?

Are you using any custom transformations?

Are you using the "Tracking Fields" functionality? i.e. additional cpu and disk writes required?

            Thanks
            Yan

              Hi Yan,
This is the information that you needed

              Iam using just DB Adpaters
The adpater looks normally without error messages or any other extrange message
The connection between Adapters - database and Hub are without proxy server or firewall
The network traffic is the same in both enviroments.

The level is 1 for Log events
The message size is less than 2kb

In Dev enviroment 5000 records pass from System A to System B in 20 minutes
The Same 5000 records in Producction pass from System A to System B in 10 Hours

              Iam not using custom transformations.

Iam not using "Tracking Fields" functionality.

              Regards

                Ricardo,

That IS a very SLOW transfer!!

                A few more questions.
                What hardware are you running?
What operating system / version are you running?
What version of Oracle Integration are you running?
Is this compatiable / certified against your server and o/s?

What other processes are running at the time? My question is suggesting that there are competing processes using up CPU. Is your Hub dedicated only for Interconnect processes, or is there any other OLTP occurring?

Are your adapters caching the metadata at runtime?

Other suggestions are me "clutching at straws" like, checking auto-extents on Hub tablespaces, or do you need to de-fragment your hard-disk?

My experience in slow interconnect performance has always been on the source or target systems, not the interconnect. The fact that you are in Production, and therefore heavy OLTP on your Production source or target databases means that maybe your adapters are working only as quickly as your source or target systems can publish and or subscribe.

Do you have a JMS memory leak? This is difficult to track down, but have a look on Metalink.

I am confounded by this too!

My only real suggestion is to contact Oracle Support ASAP.

                Regards
                Yan

                  HI this is the information
                  What hardware are you running?
                  Intel 2 Processors Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz
                  RAM 4 GB
What operating system / version are you running?
                  Wndows 2000 Server
What version of Oracle Integration are you running?
                  9.0.2.0 Patch 2
Is this compatiable / certified against your server and o/s?
Yes My database are Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 Source and Target
                  Repository is on 9.0.1.4.0

                  Regards

                    From my experience :

The subscriber poll every 15 seconds which is slow
The publisher poll every 500 ms into messageobjectable - this should be parametrable since patch 2899025 with db_message_polling_interval but seems to be not working.

I measure this with Ethereal sniffer.

One reason that can explain poor performance :
the log level must be set to the minimum : 0

Perhaps if you change the nature of persistence (no more file persistence but DB persistence ) you may have a gain too.
                    To activate this :
                    agent_pipeline_from_hub=false
                    agent_pipeline_to_hub=false

                    Hope this help,
                    rgds

                      Ricardo,

The location of the adapter can make a huge difference if you have messages going over WAN. I don't know your architecture but if you have the adapter running on the hub (integration server), instead on the server of the target database, it will help. At least it helped us a lot.

                        Hi
                        Thanks for your help
Well actually we have 2 DBAdpaters running on a dedicated Compact Pentium III 900 Mhz 1GB RAM And the Database Repository including Hub Respository Services.
But It's slower than the old configuration and don´t know what is going on here.
The old arquitecture was shared with Forms and Reports Server, HUB Services and adapters and is faster than the new.
                        Any Suggestions.

                        Regards
