You have to use TO_CHAR if you don't want (or can't) set nls_date_format :
SQL> select to_char(sysdate, 'dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss') datetime from dual; DATETIME ------------------- 16/06/2005 21:02:24 SQL>
For now, I put NLS_DATE_FORMAT in registry. Will see if there is any impact on other apps.
Just do an
alter session set NLS_DATE_FORMAT = 'mm-dd-yyyy HH24:mi:ss';
if you are worried about other apps.
also, can put the line "alter session...." into C:\oracle\ora92\sqlplus\admin\glogin.sql
whenever open sqlplus, it will automatically read glogin.sql.
