    Error while starup of OC4J

      Hi

      I downloaded Oracle JDeveloper 10g Release 2 (10.1.3)
and tried to start OC4J as recommended in one of the webservices security tutorials and got this error.

I think I'm having exactly the same problem. Have you found the answer?

I've just downloaded Jdeveloper 10.0.13 and installed according to the instructions. Then tried to install/start the included oc4j.

          The first step went Ok:
          start java -jar oc4j.jar

          But when I ran:
          start java -jar oc4j.jar

Make sure that you are starting oc4j using the full JDK, not with the JRE.

the error seams to indicate otherwise:
at java.lang.Thread.run (Unknown source file) [jre bootstrap, by jre bootstrap]

One way to check if you are using the JDK is to be able to execute the javac command from the dos prompt.

            Hope this helps,

I face the same issue too. As a matter of fact, I use JDK and not JRE .. however it is JDK 1.5.02 as against JDK 1.4.2 that Jdeveloper 10.1.3 relies on. Should this be the reason?.. Are you folks trying it with JDK 1.4.2? - Thanks.

If you want to use JDK 5.0, you should upgrade to the latest version from Sun. I believe the current one is: java version "1.5.0_04"

With 1.4.2, it's also working fine.

                Hope this helps,

HI. I´m having a similar problem starting OC4J (10.1.3). When the container is starting I get the exception : "Exception in thread "OC4J Launcher" oracle.oc4j.loader.util.An
                  notatedNoClassDefFoundError"

The source of the problem seems to be that some of my classes names are to long, (more than 35 characters) and i really have a LOT of classes, so refactoring them is a very heavy task.

Does anybody knows were can I change or remove this 35 character limitation? Or may be it cannot be changed...
It´s also possible that it has something to do with the metrics defined in the class loader but i´m not really sure.

This problem appeared when I updated the OC4J to this version and switched to the jdk1.5.0_06

                  Thanks

With jdk1.5.0_05 the problem is solved. A really strange behaivor.
