    I wonder if you have you found any clear solution for this problem.

    my operating system : Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 3)
    there is no xorg-xxxxxxx-i386.rpm and libXp-xxxx.rpm for this system (at least in installation CDs) and in fact i can see all libXP (and libXp.so.6 library) at location /usr/X11R6/lib.

    I tried link command to force the system to see the libraries. But i could not solve the problem and runInstaller does not work.

    installing a libXp for i386 fixed the problem

    yum install libXp worked for me (Redhat -5)
