    Reporting on additional fields

    Wim Spiering - Hot ITem

      LS,

We're busy in creating a logical model. We're using SQL Developer Data Modeler 4.0.

As part of this we've registered the "Responsible Parties" on all the Entities.

Trying to create a diversity of reports but none of them displays this information item ("Responsible Parties" that is).

Question is how to get the item "Responsible Parties" into reports / prints.

(Same for others fields not visible on any of the standard reports).

If there's no possibility to report these kind of (business) fields then registering them within Data Modeler is for no longer an option.

      Thanks in advance,

          Hi Wim,

You can create report using Search functionality.

          1. Right click on 'Business information' in the tree and choose 'Find'

          2. In the Search panel enter * or some other criteria and press Enter. You may not use Enter but search can start automatically after n'th symbol. See in Tools->Prefernces->Data Modeler->Search

          3. In 'Filter' combobox choose Responsible Party as type of objects that you you wish to create report on.

          4. Click on 'Report' button and then on 'Generate Report'

Additionally you can create custom template and remove some properties not needed in the report and control columns order, width and sort.

            Dimitar,

thanks for the quick response. It gives us the possibility to report the parties itself.

Is it from there also possible to report all entities with there responsible parties ?

            Example :

            Responsible party          Entity

            Sales                               Customers

                                                   Order

                                                   Order lines

            Finance                           Invoice

                                                   Invoice lines

            HRM                               Employees

The other way arround - in the entities detail report an item/field with responsible party - is also an option !

              Hi Wim,

Is it from there also possible to report all entities with there responsible parties ?

you can get this report if you change the file BIResponsibleParty.xml located in datamodeler\datamodeler\xmlmetadata directory - you need to change the last row :

              current:

                <roproperty name="elements" dataType="interface java.util.List" getter="getElements"/>

              changed:

                <roproperty name="elements" dataType="java.util.List" getter="getElements" search="true"/>

              Philip

                Philip,

                tried the above.

                - Changed file accordingly

                - Business Information

                - Find  / Advanced

=> See properties but no "Entities connect to / used by" like property.

Do I miss something here? If not are there any other options ?

Reporting on Entity level (as a property of the Entity) is sufficient as well .

                Thanks in advance !

                  Wim,

you need to restart Data Modeler. The property that will give entities is Elements - you can rename it in report template.

                  Name                               Elements

                  Sales                               Customers

                                                         Order

                                                         Order lines

                  Finance                           Invoice

                                                         Invoice lines

                  HRM                               Employees

Just run report without template and you'll see your data.

thanks!  The restart did the job....
