          To clarify, you are attempting to connect from NewYork (client) to a database named "prod" on US (server).  Is that correct?  If it is, then the Oracle Listener on NewYork shouldn't be involved.  You may want to stop it for now to make troubleshooting easier.

          I think SB was suggesting you rename the listener.ora file on US and restart that listener.  You also have to wait a minute or two after restarting the listener before you check the status.  It takes some time for the active databases to register with the listener.

            Hi Cleavitt/Sb/KarK,

            Thank you so much of all you guys. My issue has been resolved. I stopped the listener on standby server (newyork) made only one following entry on primary server's (US) listener.ora file and started the primary server listerner.

            SID_LIST_LISTENER =

              (SID_LIST =

              (SID_DESC =

              (GLOBAL_DBNAME = prod.WORLD)

              (ORACLE_HOME = /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1)

              (SID_NAME = prod)

              )

              )

            Now every thing is fine. I have learnt many thing here on this discussion. Thank again for all of your help

            Best Regards,

            Michel.
