I have a Oracle database(9i) which was running on pfile (startup pfile='path/init.ora'), windows.
the database was running fine, for many days & today was shutdown by a developer(ora 30036 was got & he instead of asking any dba just shutdown the database).
I want to know if i startup the database using pfile, will i get the data till date or i will have to recover the data using archive logs or any other recovery methods?
1 thing to mention, RMAN is not configured...
Please let me know if any more information is needed.
ORA-30036: unable to extend segment by string in undo tablespace "string"
Cause: the specified undo tablespace has no more space available.
Action: Add more space to the undo tablespace before retrying the operation. An alternative is to wait until active transactions to commit.
There is no need to perform any recovery, you can just startup your DB and your DB should start just fine.
If you want to diagnose why you did receive the ORA-30036, you can start by checking the undo tablespace size and check which operations are exhausting your Undo tablespace.
