yesterday while visiting a client to solve some problems I had to connect to a 9i (22.214.171.124) database and after creating the connection and testing it for sucess whenever I tried to expand the objects tree (tables; packages, views, etc) I got this erros message ora-03120 and none of the objects tree would expand.
I was not aware of any problems in connecting to Oracle database version 9 until that moment and my only guess was it could be related to the JDBC driver that ships with the SQL Developer 4. To get the job done I had to get another vendor software to connect, but as always took me the double amount of time to get things done since I did not knew the product..
My question is if this is a reported problem ( I cannot seem to find it in the search facility here in the forum or in Metalink) or has it ever happenned to any of you and what did you do to solve it?
what did you do to solve it?
Used an older version of sql developer that supports that database.
You'll have to go back to at least 3.0.04.34 since versions after that date either aren't certified for 9i or are certified only for 9.2 or later.
There are links for even earlier releases at the bottom of that page.
