We are currently using Oracle Reports 11.1.2. We are opening the rdf reports with desformat=PDF and currently have a link in the header of the report labeled "Export to Excel". The link works correctly, however, instead of the excel report opening in the same window users want the excel report to open in a new window. We've tried a number of settings to get this to work but the report still opens in the same window.
We tried using SRW.SET commands:
Since the report opens in PDF we also attempted:
SRW.SET_PDF_ACTION('C:\Progra~1\Intern~1\iexplore.exe ' || REPORT_URL);
We also tried setting the link up in the Property Inspector by adding the report URL to the Hyperlink box and setting the Additional Hyperlink Attributes box to: target="_blank"
We also attempted to generate the link using <a href> tags in a formula column and adding the formula column to the header with the Property Inspector box "Contains HTML Tags" set to Yes.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you for the info. The report appears to be opening in reader correctly.
Now, when clicking the "Export to Excel" link we get a reader error message saying "Could not open the file C:\iexplore.exe.
We are using the format trigger:
SRW.SET_PDF_ACTION('C:\iexplore.exe -new ' || REPORT_URL);
The IE exe file is located in that directory location however it doesn't look like reader will launch IE correctly.
When running the formula as SRW.SET_PDF_ACTION('iexplore.exe ' || REPORT_URL); the link attempts to open iexplore.exe as a webpage on the server and a 404 error is thrown stating that the system could not open https://reportserver/reports/rwservlet/iexplore.exe.
I was reading some other message boards and someone mentioned that they thought that calling iexplore.exe in the SRW.SET_PDF_ACTION package would not work if the report server was on a UNIX server as UNIX would not recognize the iexplore.exe file.
Do you happen to know if when using SET_PDF_ACTION if it is looking for the iexplore.exe on the actual report server as opposed to the local desktop? So all because iexplore is located in C:\iexplore.exe on the local computer, could it be giving the error because iexplore.exe doesn't exist in that location on the report server?
