OWB - Which operator to use?

Folks,  I have a source database on SQL Server 2008 R2 and my target database is Oracle 11gR2.  On the sql server database I have several columns within a table that I need to convert from various datatypes i.e. BIT, INT, DATETIME, LONG etc to the Oracle equivalents.  What is the best / recommended OWB operator to use for such...ideally whereby I can use set base rather than row based processing.  A colleague is suggesting I use the EXPRESSION operator...but I'm more inclined to be using the TRANSFORMATION operator...in doing so, do I need to create a separate TRANSFORMATION operator for each column?  Any advice/recommendation would be appreciated.
