Oracle Express not loading at startup

I need to analyze some things for my work and I have to decided to that at home. For that I want to install Oracle Express 11g on a desktop at home. I read that Oracle Express will be loaded during the booting of the desktop and that you can unload the database after the booting. This is not what I really want. What I would like is that I can load Oracle Express the moment I need it, but have it not active on other times.

Is it possible to configure Oracle Express like that. I had already a look at the most common options, but I couldn't find anything (but maybe I am just missing it).
