    Rebuild patch file system in Oracle Apps 12.2.3

    User327385

      I have been working on a test environment of Oracle Apps 12.2.3, mainly in the adop area. I encountered an error while running adop phase=prepare and adop phase=fs_clone.

      I've tracked this issue down to missing files in the fs2 (patch edition) file system. In fact, almost everything is missing, including the APPL_TOP directory. I believe I removed the patch directory while fixing other issues encountered while executing adop.

      Is it possible to delete the obsolete filesystem while running adop before there has been a chance to populate the new filesystem? For example, during a patching session your patch fails to install or cutover, so you abort the filesystem and run adop phase=cleanup cleanup_mode=full.

      Is it possible to rebuild the patch filesystem using adop? I thought this was a possibility but have been unable to use adop to do this because it fails in execution. Running adop phase=prepare will fail because of the missing files in the patch edition and adop phase=actualize_all will fail because it cannot be run if it is not in a patching cycle.

      Thanks in advance!

          We discovered what the issue was. We have several test environments on our servers and each has it's own oraInventory in oraInst.loc. A change was made to the oraInst.loc and it was no longer pointing to the necessary oraInventory locations. This was causing adop phase=fs_clone to fail because it couldn't find the correct homes. You can replicate this at any time by changing the oraInst.loc and running adop phase=fs_clone or adop phase=prepare. Once we reverted to the correct oraInventory, fs_clone worked and populated all the directory correctly, automatically. There was no reference to this requirement in the documentation so we had trouble tracking the problem down.

            Same issue. Afer fixing the oraInst.loc still PATCH file system is not getting re-populated. Still APPL_TOP is not available. adop phase=fs_clone failing with

              Hi user3487396,

              If you look at the error message you're getting, you'll see that the fs2/EBSapps/appl does not exist. We saw this same issue when our fs2/EBSapps and fs2/FMW_Home directories were missing. The following directories are required at a minimum in order to run fs_clone:

              fs2/EBSapps

              fs2/EBSapps/10.1.2

              fs2/EBSapps/comn

              fs2/EBSapps/appl

              fs2/FMW_Home

              fs2=patch filesystem

              Just create these directories and it should run.
