do you select only A and C or the below as a whole ..
Member1 A C
can you try both.
If you are using smart view 22.214.171.124.300 and aboe If I am right on the version then you should be able to select and retrieve
If you are on that version, then probably you might not have the multiple adhoc grid set to do that.
1. Delete sheet info first and delete sheet metadata
2. connect to the database. Select the area and then "Adhoc Analysis"
3. It will prompt if you want to use a multiple adhoc
4. click ok and you are set.
Your question refers to range based retrievals and my understanding is that, unlike the Spreadsheet Add-In, you cannot do this. So saying I have seen several blogs that suggest that it can be done as of version 126.96.36.199 but I can't find evidence of it in the docs and am unable to replicate it in my environment through either a Shared or Private Essbase connection. However the Smart View guru Matt Milella seems to think it can be done according to his comment in one of the blogs I was reading, so I wonder if he might weigh in?
Hello Steve Fitchett,
I found user10132385, Amarnath's suggestion useful. Once Multiple ad-hoc grids are enabled for the sheet I was able to do range based retrievals. But I agree with you that without having that enabled it is not possible (unlike with the add-in). Thanks to all of you for your replies.
I just tested it for myself and it does, surprisingly, work. Having multiple grids though seems to cause other issues, apart from screen tear the formatting keeps reverting unless I check Excel Formatting.
Still, handy to know.
