SQL developer not working under win 8.1.1

    9b0541f0-ba0e-4806-9b7f-c3144d0e8398

Hi, i'm not sure whether i'm in right section, sorry if not.

I have problem with Oracle SQL developer 4.0.1.14.48 (also SQL developer data modeler), which is not loading under win 8.1 update 1 (fully updated win8).

I only get starting screen, with about 1cm loading bar with message "loading", after few seconds starting screen go off and nothing else happen. There is no related process in task manager, no error message, nothing. My friend have the same problem. Both PCs are Laptops.

      Pls help.

Start SQLDev from the bin directory - you should get a cmd window with more feedback from the program. Paste that here.

                Hi Jeff,

I'm having the same problem with SQLDeveloper 4.0.2.15 on Windows 7 32-bit (at least the first few java messages are the same).

                  Hi George,

I believe this is related to timing -- very infrequently something similar has happened to me, but I never stop to read the errors, and it always seems to work if restarted immediately.

Please check C:\Users\<your_user_name>\AppData\Roaming\sqldeveloper\1.0.0.0.0\product.conf file and make sure...

                  1. SetJavaHome points to update 55 or higher of jdk 1.7, e.g., SetJavaHome C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_60

                  2. Increase the default JVM memory parameter Xms, e.g.,  try AddVMOption -Xms256m or Add32VMOption -Xms256m

                  Regards,

                  Gary
