Target adapter change for specific users

      Hello Everyone,

We have a requirement to change target HFM adapter when specific user logs on to FDM application. so when a particular user logs on to FDM, the adapter should change to a specific target adapter. When all other users logs on,the adapter should change to default adapter. We are using FM11X-G6-B adapter in our application and the version is 11.1.2.2.  Is there any way to achieve this requirement? Please help in that.

Create a 2nd Location that is a copy of the primary location used for one set of users and associate the second adapter instnace with that location. You can have the second location inherit the mappings from the promary location by setting it as the Parent Location. All you need to do then is configure the security so that the relevant users only have access to the relevant location.

I would be interested to know why you need a 2nd adapter for certain users?

            Hi SH,

Thanks for the reply. We have a 2 different target HFM application in environment. Instead of pointing FDM application back and forth to different HFM applications, we created a new HFM adapter for 2nd application. Also, is there a way to assign adapter with user specific logon and not with location dependency.

            Thanks.

If you are looking for different users to logon to different HFM applications you could try to make the CONNECT Action Script dynamic so it does not take the HFM application from Target application option.

In any case, I'm not 100% sure how it would behave as connections might be opened in cache.

As SH mentioned, FDM is "adapter by location" so adapters are not linked to users but to locations, and users are granted to locations.

But again, which is your specific business requirement?

                Hi Amores,

                Thank you for the reply.

Set of new users need to connect with Training application. So we decided to create a new adapter to connect with training application.

                Thanks.

                  Then don't complicate yourself.

As SH said, create locations for training purposes and assign adapter for training application to them.

Then you configure security for those locations.
