I have downloaded SampleAppv309R2.zip.001 through 005.
I am running windows 7, I have never used 7z before but I downloaded it.
I run the command 7z x sampleappv309r2.zip.001 and I am expecting to wait awhile and get the new folder/file results listed in steo 6 of the quick deployment guide.
What I get is a folder named SampleAppv309R2 with one zip file in it named SampleAppv309R2.zip
Please let me know what I am doing wrong ASAP. I have time today to get this ready but I leave for vacation and won't have time before the seminar next week...
On Windows 7, once you have installed 7-zip you can open the Command Prompt (run "cmd.exe"), change to the drive and folder path to where you downloaded the files, for example:
D:\> cd my-folde-path
and run the commands:
D:\my-folder-path>"C:\Program Files\7-Zip\7z.exe" e SPATIAL_Tutorial_OEL6.4_12cR1_DB.ova.7z.001
Sorry if I wasn't clear above... I am doing basically what you suggest.
I am following instructions from here OBIEE Samples the deployment guide page 2 step 6.
I have 7z in my path so:
C:\7z x sampleappz309r2.zip.001
the step says it should take 20-30 minutes : on my pc it is less than 5 minutes
the step says the result s/be a new directory SampleAppv309R2-export : I get a directory SampleAppv309R2
the step says the result SampleAppv309R2GA-disk1.vmdk(23GB) : I get a file in my folder (above) SampleAppv309R2.zip (and the zip file cannot be opened... message says it is not a valid archive file).
okay I am doing both 3 and 6. currently trying to do workshop 3 extraction and it's info says to use "x". i'll try "e". But it sounds like I am looking for the same thing... an .ova file... Has any one else tried following the document?
I tried using option "e" and got the same result... a zip file that is not recognized as a valid compressed file.
Update: file 001 was corrupt it did not fully download I guess. I am downloading it again now, I have high speed internet but it is taking forever... I think it will be good once it is a full download. The downloads for workshop 6 extracted fine. So, 3 should too once it is complete... Thanks, John

Some of the emails sent to workshop registrants had the wrong link. The text url was for the right page but the hyperlink was for the workshop description on LI.net instead.
So in case anyone is here wondering where the landing page for the downloads is it is
