Thanks for the reply....but, As per my knowledge, validation rules are only for the values of the combinations to validate and act accordingly.
But here i wanna to hide members of state dimension except India if India is selected in country dim.
Page dimension lists can't be dynamically created solely based upon the selection of another page dimension dropdown in Planning.
There are other products available that can do this, but Planning can not.
That being said, there are other ways to accomplish showing the same datapoints on a form. You just have to be creative and the user has to be flexible with how they get there.
I think you can achieve this by setting security correctly .. In standard scenario you will have different planners for each country , e.g. give access to USA states to USA entity user only ...
Security is an option, but security in Planning is 1 dimensional (in comparison to Essbase). So as Chinmay Joshi pointed out you can use the Planning Units (Entity) dimension for this. You might also think about User Variables where you limit the selection.
You might try to apply a dirty method: You load a 1 for the relevant positions of Countries and States. Then you select all and use suppression on the empty combinations. So it will show you only the valid combinations, those you have loaded a 1.
This is very retrieve intensive and will slow down your reports and data forms.
There might be a very good reason not to place the states and countries into one hierarchy. ;-)
It makes sense to keep it under one dimension as you are hitting something called as Dimension irrelevance when you have country and state as two different dimensions.
There will be lot of problems in terms of consolidation and can cause a lot of confusion
