MaahjoorMay 22 2014 — edited May 22 2014

Dear all,

we are from a college.

we contact our local sales personalities here, and they send us 3 companies list. those companies send us their quotations for the following;

1. Oracle Database 12c Enterprise edition Processor License          35086 US DOLLER

2. Annual Subscription for support and update                                 7601  US DOLLER

3. Database Lifecycle management Packs Processor License          8863  US DOLLER

4.  Annual Subscription for support and update                                 1950 US DOLLER

The total annual price for support is 9551 US DOLLER.

is that real? oracle support is that much costly?

kindly guide us since we are afraid that the companies may be playing with us.

thank you.

The Solaris OS is made up of six software groups:

*1. Reduced Networking Support software group* : contains the minimum software that is required to boot and run a Solaris system with limited network service support
*2. Core System Support software group* : contains the minimum software required to boot and run the Solaris OS in a minimum configuration, without the support to run many server applications.
*3. End User Solaris software group* : contains the Core software group and also contains the recommended software for an end user plus the CDE.
*4. Developer Solaris software group* : contains the End User System Support software group. It also contains the libraries, the include files, the online manual pages, and the programming tools for developing software.
*5. Entire Solaris software group* : is the entire Solaris OS software release minus OEM support.
*6. Entire Solaris software group plus Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) support* : It also contains additional hardware support for OEMs and hardware not on the system at the time of installation.

With a hidden cluster group Minimal Core Metacluster (SUNWCmreq), so if you chose the one that best suits you according to the description given above.

Hope it will be helpful for you.

Select part that more intresting for you ( Basic installation or Network, Jumpstart, FlashArchive etc).

In the link below [given by Nik]:

http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E23823_01/html/E23799/ggtsg.html#scrolltoc

scroll down till the section 12 [select software], these are the different cluster groups that I've already depicted in the first post, so you choose the second option starting from the bottom.
