    Weird archive log gap?

      Hi All,

      11.2.0.3

      I monitored our standby and its says it has gap?

      At standby:

      SQL>  select client_process, process, sequence#, status from v$managed_standby;

      CLIENT_P PROCESS    SEQUENCE# STATUS

      -------- --------- ---------- ------------

      ARCH     ARCH             203 CLOSING

      ARCH     ARCH             204 CLOSING

      ARCH     ARCH             201 OPENING

      ARCH     ARCH             201 OPENING

      ARCH     ARCH               0 CONNECTED

      N/A      MRP0             439 WAIT_FOR_GAP

      6 rows selected.

      At primary:

      SQL>  select client_process, process, sequence#, status from v$managed_standby;

      CLIENT_P PROCESS    SEQUENCE# STATUS

      -------- --------- ---------- ------------

      ARCH     ARCH             440 OPENING

      ARCH     ARCH             439 OPENING

      ARCH     ARCH             439 OPENING

      ARCH     ARCH             441 OPENING

      LNS      LNS              442 OPENING

      I checked the missing log gap at primary, and it is there. Why is it not beeing transferred and applied to the standby?

      >cd 2014_06_03

      oracle@UATserver:/u21/fast_recovery_area/UAT/archivelog/2014_06_03>ls -l

      total 181768

      -rw-------    1 oracle   dba         8147968 Jun 03 09:22 o1_mf_1_439_9rt8trkc_.arc

      -rw-------    1 oracle   dba        38425088 Jun 03 09:22 o1_mf_1_440_9rt8trt0_.arc

      -rw-------    1 oracle   dba        46483968 Jun 03 09:22 o1_mf_1_441_9rt8tvk7_.arc

      Note that the above folder at primary is in  2014_06_03  , as in latest June 03.

      But when I checked the June 3 folder at standby

      cd 2014_06_03

      dbdev:oracle[/u21/fast_recovery_area/UATDR/archivelog/2014_06_03] ls -lrt

      total 148944

      -rw-r-----    1 oracle   dba        15737856 Jun 03 09:49 o1_mf_1_203_9rtbfs3m_.arc

      -rw-r-----    1 oracle   dba         9483776 Jun 03 09:49 o1_mf_1_202_9rtbfs39_.arc

      -rw-r-----    1 oracle   dba        39414272 Jun 03 09:49 o1_mf_1_201_9rtbfr6f_.arc

      -rw-r-----    1 oracle   dba        11614208 Jun 03 09:49 o1_mf_1_204_9rtbfsvp_.arc

      Why are the log number lower start wit 201  when it should be 439???

      How do I force it to apply log 439?

      Please helpppp,

      Thanks,

      pK

          Why not read the alert log at the standby ?  Or query V$DATAGUARD_STATUS ?

              Hi Petra,

              Copy the misssing archive logs to DR-SERVER, location is independent, could be /u01/, /home/oracle/.....

              After copy register to the archive logs to apply it on DR-SERVER.

              suppose you copied to /u01

              SQL> alter database register logfile

              '/u01/o1_mf_1_439_9rt8trkc_.arc';

              Regards,

              Sher
