    Question about HypCell function in VBA

    cafa428e-67fa-47b9-bbec-7d65b66872ac

      I don't understand the sheetName as a parameter. The manual says it's the name of the sheet to operate on. What does Operate On mean here? I want to retrieve the data by inputting the 12 dimensions, so why do I need a sheet? Also, don't I need to specify the name of the server to connect?

          You will retrieve the data value in a cell of your worksheet, you'll have to provide the name of this worksheet as a parameter

          You will connect to the server before execution of HypCell function, so you will be specifying the name of the server using HypCreateConnection Function

          Thanks

            Hi,

            vtSheetName:

            The name of worksheet on which to run the function. If vtSheetName is Null or Empty, the active worksheet is used.

            Example:

            Declare Function HypCell Lib "HsAddin" (ByVal vtSheetName As Variant, ParamArray

            MemberList() As Variant) As Variant

            Sub Example_HypCell()

            Dim X As String

            X=HypCell(Empty, "Year#Qtr1", "Scenario#Actual", "Market#Oregon")

            If X = "#No Connection" Then

            MsgBox("Not logged in, or sheet not active.")

            Else

            If Left(X, 15) = "#Invalid member" then

            MsgBox("Member name incorrect.")

            Else

            MsgBox(X + " Value retrieved successfully.")

            End If

            End If

            End Sub
