User, why would you need to pass a value from the selected row to the form?
The framework selects the row you want to show in the form. All you need to do is to show the form with the selected row. This does the framework automatically as long as you use th same vo from the same data control.

I am new to JDeveloper and I often forget this aspect!
Everytime I think to create a VO (with 2-3 fields) to search a record and another VO to show the datail (10-40 fields) I must instead create only a VO which includes the fields used for the search and the ones used for the detail. Right?
It's not a must but am option to do so. That's the way the framework works by default.
However, you can use different vo to search and display the detail of one row. A sample for this can be found at Using diferent VOs for Master Detail Navigation (the Declatative Way) | JDev &amp; ADF Goodies
This too is a valid approach if you want to separate the editing from the search.
