Yes ,Repository version difference will cause the error.The lower version down not going to support the next version.in your case 188.8.131.52.0.120104.1244.000 does not support 184.108.40.206.2.Please upgrade.

Take the code from 220.127.116.11.2 machine and once you upgrade the notebook with 18.104.22.168.2 and deploy the code in the notebook both RPD and catalog.catalog does not cause any error with the RPD upgrade.Might be all these patches.Please try to upgrade and configure the code.

Support Identifiers are the "contract" between your organization and Oracle. but we have not ((( how to it?
code means repository or catalog...
Support identifier is related to OBIEE 11g service agreement between organization and oracle.
