oracle 10.2.0.3 move an rman backup

    jdaniel1127

We do an rman level 0 every weekend and a level 1 daily. I would like to move last weeks copies off to another disk drive to save space. I assume that is done from within rman? if so, what commands do I use?

if you just want to move the backup copies to another server to simply save space  you can just use OS utlities like scp and rsync

so if I am in windows I can just do a file level copy of them?

              Hi,

I would use RMAN. Backing Up RMAN Backups

              Regards,

              Ivica

Edit: Link changed for 10.2 version

Currently have 10.2.0.3 on Windows Server 2008....

I have configured channels as follows:

channel 1 device type disk format='f:\rman_backups\rman%u.bus'  ( this matches the current files on g:\backups\)

channel 2 device type disk format='f:\archive_logs\arc%s%r.%t' ( this matches the current archives on g:\oracle\ora10gtemp\database\)

                I have 11 files in backups ( 3 for 7/29, 1 for 7/30, 3 for 8/2, 2 for 8/7 and 2 for 8/8 ) 8/7 and 8/8 are incrementals...

I have 80 files from 2012 until today of archive logs ( 10M each.......)

I am trying to move all of the archive logs and backup files from G: that has 652G free to F: which has 4.6T free...

crosscheck backupset didn't help and my last level 1 backup didn't create that file either.

Tonight at 8 pm it does a backup database. mon-thur it does a RMAN level 1

Will see what it creates and if we can continue this after that.

Trying to fix their backups as they were only doing an RMAN full on Friday and using archive logs and OS file backups for the rest.

worked this weekend... Have new rman backups going to f:\rman_backups and archives going to f:\archive_logs. old ones still on g: drive...
