    sqldeveloper not recognizing my full pathname of a JDK installation?

    97afaa5f-04a2-417a-9067-1bbd98519664

      I have been attempting to install SQL Developer on my Ubuntu 12.04 box.

      My java version is:

      $ java -version

      java version "1.6.0_32"

      OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.13.4) (6b32-1.13.4-4ubuntu0.12.04.2)

      OpenJDK Client VM (build 23.25-b01, mixed mode, sharing)

      The final step is to actually run sqldeveloper& from the command prompt. When I do this it asks me:

      Type the full pathname of a JDK installation (or Ctrl-C to quit), the path will be stored in /home/ran/.sqldeveloper/4.0.0/product.conf

      I have what I "believe" is my JDK installation in /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-i386/ folder

      so I type "/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-i386"  and it returns with:

      "

      bash: /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-i386: Is a directory

      [5]+  Stopped                 sqldeveloper

      "

      Any ideas? I am simply stumped at this point. :-(
