I have a v6.1 AS400/DB2 at my workplace that we are currently looking at migrating to an Oracle database. For the time being, I would like to be able to connect to both databases in SQL Developer so that I can show some things to my employer.
I have downloaded the JTOPEN driver and placed it into a folder, and have added the jar file to the Third Party JDBC drivers list. After I do that I get a DB2 tab when I open a new connection, but it won't accept my parameters. The error it gives is: "Status : Failure -Test failed: Driver class not found. Verify the Driver location".
When I use the JTOPEN jar to connect to DB2 with RazorSQL, it works fine! I know I could use RazorSQL, but I would much prefer to use SQL Developer.
Can anyone point me in the right direction here to get it setup and working properly? I feel as if it's not looking for the driver in the proper location.
As far as I know AS400 is still NOT supported. IBM DB2 LUW 8.x, 9.x are the only IBM offerings on the support list as of August 2014
These older threads show support for AS400 has been asked about as far back as 2011

If I wanted to connect to a AS400 DBMS, what connector driver is it I’m supposed to use? . . . Sybase? ODBC? or IBM DB2?
That last page by Jeff Smith also links to a page that lists the specific drivers needed for the DBs supported
1. Download Oracle SQL Developer
- Supported Source Migration Platforms: IBM DB2 LUW 8 and 9, DB2 UDB for iSeries
- DB2 Core Features and Supported Objects
