upgrade from 12.1.2.0 to 12.1.2.1

Can someone please tell me how to upgrade from 12.1.2.0 to 12.1.2.1? I looked into the documentation but the only thing I found was on how to upgrade from 11 to 12. Someone told me I should use opatch but there is no 12.1.2.1 patchset available. Any ideas will be appreciated.

There is not an upgrade option in the OUI; however, if you perform an installation with the OUI on top of the existing binaries it will do the upgrade.  I had to try this at one point because I was told the same thing about the OPatch.  The docs mostly tell you how to find the version using OPatch not an upgrade.

Actually my first trial was to use the installer and upgrade into the existing installation. but that crashed my entire environment and the startup of processes failed with core dumps.

Interesting.  I used the OUI and installed right on top of my 12.1.2.0 installation with no problem.  Do you have an install log from the attempts?

unfortunately not. as it was only a test system I create a new directory for 12.1.2.1 and dropped the old one
