    Virtual Columns on Exchange partition

    Marisa

Hi, I'm goind to add a virtual column to a table that is the destiny of an Exchange Partition procedure.

Should the origin table include the virtual column in order to have the same structure as destiny table? Or it's no necessary?

      Thanks in advance, regards!

What happened when you tried it?

Don't be afraid of breaking Oracle by actually TRYING things. That is often the best, and fastest, way to learn.

Then ask yourself - what does that question have to do with Sql Developer?

This forum is ONLY for Sql developer questions.

Please mark the thread ANSWERED and repost it in the Sql and PL/SQL forum

          https://community.oracle.com/community/database/oracle-database-options/sql_and_pl_sql/content?filterID=contentstatus[published]~objecttype~objecttype[thread]

Before you repost you should just answer your OWN question by performing some simple tests.

          1. form a hypotheses - either 'yes the source should ALSO have a virtual column' or 'no it should not'

          2. design a simple test to determine if your hypotheses in #1 is correct

Since GOOD developers ALWAYS conduct tests BEFORE implementing changes it doesn't even take ANY extra work to answer your own question,.

Then if you still need help repost in the correct forum.
