Upgrading OEM Cloud Control repository 11.2 to 12.1 database

    Paul_______A.

      Hi,

I'd like to upgrade my 11.2.0.3 database for EMREP to 12.1 (latest) . Also, it will be moving from hostA to hostB.

Simply upgrading is trivial for me, migration too.

But how to tell OMS that the database has moved to another host?

      Most likely I have to

      $OMS_HOME/bin/emctl stop oms -all

      (upgrade-migrate database)

      and then....??

      Any hints (experience) is welcome.

Note: I'm on OEL6.4 64bit linux and the target platform is the same.

Note: Already got 12.1 running on target platform

      Thanks,

      Paul

Yes, it's a simple change with emctl.

          http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/install.121/e24089/ha_backup_recover.htm#sthref872

However I'd advise you to review this note before upgrading the repository to 12.1: Temporary Suspension of 12c Database as EM 12cR4 Repository (Doc ID 1920632.1)

            Hi Paul,

You can try below which I did long back  for reconfiguring existing OMS for upgraded repository database (MONDB) and new host (oraintdev), it worked after trying 3/4 times.

            -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

            1. Stop Agent, OMS, repository database, listener

            2. Upgrade repository database

            3. Configure Repository database again [A parameter for HOST]:

            cd /BPELAIT2/middleware0/oms/bin

            Where /BPELAIT2/middleware0/oms is OMS home.

            Then,

            oracle$ $OMS_HOME/bin/emctl config oms -store_repos_details -repos_conndesc "(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=oraintdev)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=MONDB)))" -repos_user sysman

            Enter Repository User's Password :

Successfully updated datasources and stored repository details in Credential Store.

If there are multiple OMSs in this environment, run this store_repos_details command on all of them.

And finally, restart all the OMSs using 'emctl stop oms -all' and 'emctl start oms'.

It is also necessary to restart the BI Publisher Managed Server.Stop, then restart the OMS.

            oracle@oraintdev:/BPELAIT2/middleware1/oms/bin$  ./emctl config oms -list_repos_details

              Hi,

After you move/migrate you database, you need to update Weblogic Data source with new connection, so that OMS knows about the migrated database and makes a connection. On the OMS side, you need to run 'store repos details command to store the new connect descriptor to OMS using the below command

              $OMS_HOME/bin/emctl config oms -store_repos_details -repos_conndesc <complete connect descriptor> -repos_user sysman

Refer to HA doc for details: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/install.121/e24089/ha_backup_recover.htm#sthref872

NOTE: Support for 12c Database for EM12cR4 is temporarily suspended.

              Regards.
