In Oracle EBS 12.1, when we send out a notification for a sourcing event, the body of the notification that gets sent to suppliers reads like this (the first URL takes the user to the signon screen, while the second URL takes the user to the a page containing information about the solicitation -- if the user is logged in):
To acknowledge your intent to participate, press the Yes button on this page. To decline the invitation, press the No button. You may enter a note to the buyer in the space below before acknowledging or declining.
If not logged in, please go to Login and view details url page or If already logged in, Please go to Negotiation Details page if you want to view the document before acknowledging intent to participate and/or to enter a response.
We have received many complaints from suppliers about the second URL, because they click on it without first logging in, and are dismayed when they receive an error message. To fix this problem, we want to eliminate this second URL and reword the paragraph. In Workflow Developer under PON_PBLSH - Notifications, the notification being edited is NOTIFY_BIDDERS. If you go to edit the Message, it references under both the Text and HTML tabs, &PON_INVITE_RESPONSE_BODY.
I went back to EBS (not PRD, of course) to edit this. The second paragraph read (this is the HTML version):
<p>&LOGIN_VIEW_DETAILS_HB Please go to <a href="&NEG_SUMMARY_URL_SUPPLIER">Negotiation Details</a> page if you want to view the document before acknowledging intent to participate and/or to enter a response.
The URL we wanted to eliminate from the message is contained within "&NEG_SUMMARY_URL_SUPPLIER". To do this, we changed the paragraph to this.
<br>&LOGIN_VIEW_DETAILS_HB for information related a Metro Nashville Solicitation. After reviewing the negotiation details, please acknowledge your intent to participate.
When we went to create solicitations, the message wound us as follows.
Go to Login and view Negotiation Details for information related a Metro Nashville Solicitation. After reviewing the negotiation details, please acknowledge your intent to participate.
What causes the "garbage" text at the end of the modified notification and how can we get rid of it?
