        Thanks AG, Kj, and all,

        Is applying simple patch like > adop phase=apply patches=17204589 hotpatch=yes

        will cause swaping of run and patch fs?

        or only applying patch like  >  adop phase=apply apply_mode=downtime patches=17919161 patchtop=/home/p17919161_R12/ restart=yes

        How about adpatch? Is it still applicable to EBS R12.2.4?

        example:

        $ adpatch defaultsfile==$APPL_TOP/admin/TRCDEV/defaults_0312.txt logfile=all_10179153.log \

        patchtop=/mnt/DEVapps/patches/10179153 \

        driver=u10179153.drv \

        workers=8 \

        interactive=yes \

        options=novalidate,hotpatch

          No. Only Cutover phase swap the patch and run fs.

            Hi Hussein, Srini, Kj, AG, Xaheer, appsmasti, ebsdba, and all.

            After applying a patch the run edition switch to fs2 which do have our custom app.

            Since my run edition switched to fs2, which does not contain the custom app. Can I run "cutover" phase again so that it will switch back to fs1?

            Please help be how to switch back to fs1

            Thanks a lot,

              Hi,

              Did you run cutover phase yet?

              If a patching cycle is failing and the issue cannot be resolved quickly, it is possible to abort the patching cycle and return to normal runtime operation. The patch edition will be dropped.

              You can abandon a patching cycle (without applying any patches) by running the command:

              $ adop phase=abort

              Important: This abort command can only be used before successful completion of the cutover phase. After cutover, the system is running on the new edition, and abort is no longer possible for that patching cycle.

              Warning: Aborting a patching cycle will drop the patch edition, but you must then run the cleanup and fs_clone phases before starting a new patching cycle. The cleanup must be a full cleanup ($ adop phase=cleanup cleanup_mode=full).

              Thanks,

              Ramaraju

                But the run edition is switch to fs2, how can I switch it back to fs1?

                Thanks a lot,

                  Maria,

                  When you are applying a new patch, you can able to switch over from fs2 to fs1.

                  Have you check the EBSapps.env file is available in your ORACLE_BASE location?

                  If it is available, then source that env file.

                  . EBSapps.env run

                  goto --> cd $ADMIN_SCRIPTS_HOME

                  run -->  sh adstrtal.sh

                  Thanks,

                  Ramaraju

                    Hi friend,

                    Yes we got the file because It shows the source env:

                    babes1.png

                    But the problem is run fs pointed to fs2, which do not register the CUSTOM_XXX app.

                    I want to try $ adop=fs_clone , so that fs1 will synced fs2.

                    But the doc said:

                    • fs_clone - Recreates the patch edition file system as an exact copy of the run edition file system. This phase cannot be specified with any other phase. Use of fs_clone is normally not required. Situations that do require fs_clone are will explicitly document that requirement.
                    • If running this phase, ensure that your current working directory is not within the patch edition file system.

                    So the current directory is fs2, so this means fs2 will sync to fs1? hence the CUSTOM_XXX will be removed? Do I get it right?

                    Thanks a lot

                      I do not think it will delete any additional directories/files exists there but it may synch new files from fs2 to fs1.

                        Hi,

                        After sync....it will delete some files/directories

                        thats why "ensure that your current working directory is not within the patch edition file system"

                        one can feel the space difference on mount point before and after the sync

                        Regards,

                          Thanks all,

                          What I mean to say, or my point is, the current RUN edition file system is fs2, which does not contain the CUSTOM top.

                          If I run  $ adop=fs_clone

                          The docs says I must be it RUN file system which is fs2, the fs_clone will clone the current fs2, to fs1 , which is not the desired process becuase I want the oppsite. fs1 to be synch to fs2

                          The confusions really here is that fs2 was made the RUN  or messed up by the patch?

                            Hi,

                            From the oracle docs:Patching Utilities

                            "Important: This abort command can only be  used before successful completion of the cutover phase. After cutover,  the system is running on the new edition, and abort is no longer  possible for that patching cycle."

                            I think fs_clone also runs cutover

                            Regards,

                            AG

                              Hi AG,

                              I think fs_clone also runs cutover

                              No, fs_clone doesn't run cutover phase. It performs the full sync of run fs to patch fs (this will not swap run and patch fs)

                                  Hi Maria,

                                  As per your earlier post you mentioned :

                                  I always been applying hot patch on the current "run" environment. Actually I did not check which fs it was. But as far  as I can remember it is fs1.

                                  Also your custom top was configured on fs1

                                  As your current run filesystem is fs2, now the question - does your patches are currently live on fs2 since you mentioned that you applied hotpatch on fs1?

                                  As per your current situation, I think the only option I could see is to recreate custom top on your current run filesystem. (I am not aware whether we can manually switch the patch and run filesystem, as far as I know during patching cycle (cutover phase) it swaps the patch and run fs).

                                  Also to avoid such situation, I would like to suggest is to run the fs_clone after creating the custom top to sync it with patch fs.

                                  -Kj

                                    Is there a way to know if patch is live on both fs1 and fs2? well if it is not live on fs1, can I rerun it again here?

                                    I just want to return the custom top is the most priority.
