    "TNS-01189: The listener could not authenticate the user" error message

      Hi,

      following happen on our system (user entries in bold):

      prim$ lsnrctl services prim

      LSNRCTL for Linux: Version 10.1.0.3.0 - Production on 09-MAR-2006 14:31:13

      [snip]

      The command completed successfully

      prim$ lsnrctl services sec

      LSNRCTL for Linux: Version 10.1.0.3.0 - Production on 09-MAR-2006 14:31:58

      [snip]

      TNS-01189: The listener could not authenticate the user

      ---
      the listener password is not set, tnsping from prim to sec and from sec to prim works.
      prim$ tnsping sec
      TNS Ping Utility for Linux: Version 10.1.0.3.0 - Production on 09-MAR-2006 14:35:04

      [snip]
      OK (0 msec)

      sec$ tnsping prim
      TNS Ping Utility for Linux: Version 10.1.0.3.0 - Production on 09-MAR-2006 14:35:04

      [snip]
      OK (0 msec)

      Both 'prim' and 'sec' use the same Oracle version.
      Operating system: SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 64-bit
