    How to tune OPP

    V. A. Nagpure

      Hi All,

      Our env is as follows:

      EBS 12.1.3

      DB: 11.1.0.7

      OS: RHEL 5.7, 64 bit.

We have developed a custom report in xml, which takes 1.30 hrs to complete. What can we do to reduce this time?

      Regards,

      Vinod

I am going through Note: Tuning Output Post Processor (OPP) to Improve Performance (Doc ID 1399454.1)

Besides the things given there, what else can we do?

The note recommends increasing the number of OPP "threads". How do we do that? By defining new OPP?

          Regards,

            Hi Vinod,

I suppose you've already diagnosed the performance issue and have come to the conclusion that it's the OPP which is consuming the biggest chunk of your time. ... or else just try to optimize the queries in your report.

If you have access to the source code of your custom report, then you could also venture in the following directions:

            - reduce the size of the XML output by simply shortening the size of the tag names (but you need to adapt your RTF template also )

            - try to compute the maximum operations in your report (if any), like sums, totals, grand total etc...

The note recommends increasing the number of OPP "threads". How do we do that? By defining new OPP?

No, no need to define new OPP: just update as suggested in note via Sysadmin: Concurrent > Manager > Define - query for OPP, click on Work Shifts button and update the "Parameter" field.

            Regards,
            Rajen

              Hi Vinod

Add this value in OPP (manager) parameter field "oracle.apps.fnd.cp.opp.OPPServiceThread:2:0:max_threads=5", without quotes.

              Regards
