Log4j configuration on linux rhel 5

    226527

I've been trying all day to get log4j working on a 2 node cluster that has 4 different managed servers defined including BI, SOA, UCM and IBR.

if I put the log4j.1.2.8.jar and wlllog4j.jar in the domain/lib directory and the log4j.xml in the domain directory and start a managed server called SVC_server2 ... it crashes within 20 seconds of starting

so I put the wllog4j.jar.jar in the domain/lib and put the log4j-1.2.8j.jar at the front of the CLASSPATH and I get the following

      missing log4j.jar

      1. java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/log4j/spi/LoggerFactory

              at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method)

so I put the log4j-1.2.8.jar in the domain/lib and put the wllog4j.jar at the front of the CLASSPATH and I get the following

missing wllog4j.jar  <Error> <Log Management> <BEA-170022> <Log4j failed to initialize for SVC_server2. The default JDK Logging implementation will be used.

      1. java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: weblogic.logging.log4j.JDKLog4jAdapterFactory

any help is appreciated.  ...where do I start ???
